GMA Network, an internationally acclaimed broadcast company in Philippines, proudly joined in with the big names in the entertainment industry and global media after its Worldwide Arm GMA International (GMAI) won three awards in the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC) Excellence in Multicultural Marketing Awards (EMMA) 2017 in New York last month. EMMA is an annual award ceremony which is organized by NAMIC, the premier company that advocates, educates and empowers multi-cultural diversity in communications industry globally. Since the launch of GMA Pinoy TV in 2005, the network has earned recognition from EMMA almost every year.
The EMMA honors marketing efforts that are incredibly intended for socially diverse audience and customers among North America. The renowned award ceremony was held at the Marriot Marquis in New York on September 26th. In the Television category, the first place was given to ‘the Becoming Pinoy: Sameera Aguilar episode’. A short-film about how a Filipino mother who lives in Dubai made sure a to pass on to her half-Pinoy/half-Emirati kids, the Filipino tradition and culture despite being brought up not in their home country. This short film was aired on GMA Pinoy TV.
GMA as usual once again ruled in the Social Media category, winning the award for the Social Media Take Over, Alden Richards online event. The Pambansang Bae brought online clients from all over the globe with him amid his Singapore adventure through GMAI’s social media accounts including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages. Live recordings and exclusive content reached nearly 2 million people around the world and generated more than 300,000 worth of engagements. Alden has collected an immense and dedicated following globally as the sensational Filipino team, “Al Dub”. In the Diversity Awareness category, GMA grabbed an award for Reggie Lee entry in Becoming Pinoy.
The first Vice President and Head of Operations Mr. Joseph Francia of GMAI’s expressed pride at getting EMMA awards for the Network as well as for the Filipinos worldwide. Once again, GMA is among EMMA’s famous winners circle, that includes key players in the entertainment industry and global media like, Bell Canada, Comcast, NBCUniversal Hispanic Group and VH1. According to the GMAI’s Assistant Vice President and Head of Programming, Ms. Cheri Domingo, it’s always been GMA’s target to incorporate fondness in their programming. As they are making special efforts to build more stronger ties in between the second and third generation Filipinos abroad and with their country, and the values Filipinos stand for. This acknowledgment from NAMIC moves GMA network to keep delivering market-applicable and convincing stories for their subscribers.
